Pitch Panel Practice

What a Success!

Over 30 people signed up to hear our panelists provide insider tips on how writers can be more effective in a pitch session, in our July Practice Pitch session.

Look forward to October’s Pro Pitch session, when we arrange a panel of producers and other industry professionals for writers to pitch to. We will be announcing the event soon, so polish off those pitches and start practicing!

WIFSFBA’s Pro Pitch Panel still has room for potential producers and buyers to join the panel. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, please reach out to Carol or Nil at bod-admin@wifsfba.org and we’ll do the rest!

Hosted by the WIFSFBA Script Incubator.

Conversations & Connections

We’re excited to host our fall Conversations & Connections on a topic that’s seen so much change in recent years - The State of Post-Production: How We Work, Where We Work.

Coming in October, this panel of industry professionals will be moderated by WIFSFBA member Kristin Tieche.

The field of post-production has transformed – from the tools we use, to where we work, to how we connect with our community, our clients, and our collaborators. Kristin will moderate an engaging conversation about where the industry is heading from a panel of professionals from all backgrounds (from assistant editor, to editor, to director of post-production), spanning different industries (TV, documentary, corporate). Whether you’re a seasoned post professional or just starting out, you are bound to come away with some new insight.

We’ll announce the date shortly - stay tuned!

Manijeh Fata Appointed New Executive Director of the San Francisco Film Office

Manijeh Fata was our guest speaker at the last Conversations & Connections. We are delighted that Mayor Breed has appointed her to the top job at the Film Office. Fata has worked with the SFFO since 2015. In fact, she co-authored the conditions for filming under Covid-19, which resulted in San Francisco being the first California city to issue a permit for filming during the pandemic! Born and raised in the Bay Area, she holds two bachelor’s degrees from UC Berkeley and an MFA in Cinema from San Francisco State University. Congratulations Manijeh!
